I don't want to be associated with the centuries of paternalism committed (largely) by rich white males. Their bad behavior rings in my ears every time I hear 'him,' 'he,' and 'his.' While it's important not to forget the sins of our forebears (lest we repeat them), I think it's important to break that tradition symbolically.
Past efforts to do this have usually involved an ungendered pronoun like 'lem' or 'hir,' but for some reason, those haven't taken off.
One possible reason is that continued self-identification as a male or a female is still important.
Therefore, I propose replacing 'him,' 'he' and 'his' with 'hem,' 'mee' and 'mis,' or something similar. That way sentences including these new pronouns will still sound much like sentences using the old paternalistic pronouns.
Maybe female-identifying persons could come up with some female-specific pronouns, free of the historical oppression associated with 'she,' too. I don't feel qualified to do so as a self-identifying male.
Edit: Aw, I'm shadowbanned :(
